Top 5 Things to Think About When Choosing Patio Dining Chairs

Outdoor dining set chairs come in any type, any shape and any fabric – but what else should you be aware of when choosing your chairs. Here’s my top five tips list. 1. Do you want to sit still or do you want to rock ‘n’ roll or are you just a fidget at heart? If the answer is yes to any or all of these then you might want to consider a dining set with swivel and/or rocking chairs. These are perfect for either dining at the table in luxurious comfort, or for relaxing afterwards – being able to change your view from the dinner table to that glorious sunset behind you without having to expend too much energy shifting the furniture around. Some...

Perfect Swimming Weather

It’s been a soggy old wet day here today. “Great weather for ducks” is how my Gran would refer to it (although ducks actually hate the rain). Anyways, as far as I am concerned, a day like today is perfect weather for an outdoor swim – whether in a pool, river or the sea. Seriously. I mean it. If you’ve not tried it then go for it. The only snag is getting dry afterwards – but then that’s a hassle whatever the weather. I discovered this kind of swimming on one of my extended holidays with my Aunt. About three miles from her house was a neglected outdoor swimming pool – filled with echoes of days of yore. From the wooden changing rooms with the...

The Truth – Who a Bench is Really For.

In a moment of quietness today, in-between the toddler’s umpteenth temper tantrum and the elder son’s attack of the giggles, I thought it would be nice to grab a slurp of my coffee from the bench outside. It’s not in a particularly glamorous spot but it is away from small people, big people, all people really. Just the place to catch my breath before returning into the fray. As stealthy as the best of crooks, I sneaked out the back-door to the bench, careful to make sure the door-hinges didn’t creak or the door bang (to prevent eagle ears toddler from the MUMMY I WANT YOU shout). Anyways, there I was, gleefully thinking of my quiet time when – lo and behold – someone had...

Glass Table Tops

I saw this beautiful picture of this glass table earlier today – and thought Wow! How amazing, and refined and… then I started thinking about it. Legs! No, not table legs. Far, far worse than that. My legs! OK, Ladies – I’m sure that you will understand… When I stand, with the right heels on my shoe – and holding my posture to the best of my willpower – my legs, and especially my thighs, can look rather graceful if not even a little bit gorgeous. Looks of envy (???) follow me as I strut about in my ankle-breaking heels (surely these have to be designed by a man. No woman in her right mind would inflict such stupidity and danger on their fellow species…...

Lawn Chairs and Rabbit Holes

I went exploring a rabbit warren today… merrily following twists and turns without much care as to where I went… trying to find my own version of ‘Wonderland’. I think you might have done so yourself now and again. It’s easily done and starts out so innocently. You are looking up something on the internet such as ‘how to cook a chicken’ and you end up buying a brand new sports-car when you don’t even know how to drive! (If I’ve lost you already then read ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and know that a rabbit lives underground in a maze-like home filled with twisting tunnels called a warren.) Anyways… today I went down my own rabbit warren. I saw a picture of an old style...
